Thank you to the parents and students who attended the MTS Open House.  It was great to meet you and welcome you to our classroom community.  I look forward to an exciting year! 🍂 Learning, Exploring, and Growing in Grade 1! It has been another busy and exciting week in Grade 1! Our students have been learning, exploring, and building new skills across all areas of our classroom. 📚 Phonics We continued building our phonics skills by learning the letters C, D, and F . Students practiced identifying the letters and their sounds and applied these sounds when reading and writing words. 🔢 Math In Math, we continued exploring teen numbers, focusing on 15–18 . Students practiced representing these numbers in different ways using ten frames and other math tools.   🍂 A Wonderful Week of Learning in Grade 1! 🍂 What a busy and exciting week of learning we had in Grade 1! We continued building our classroom routines and learning through hands-on activities, stories, discussion, and creative exploration. 📚 Literacy – Letters P, S, N and I This week, we focused on the letters P, S, N, and I . Students practiced recognizing the letters, identifying their sounds, and finding words that begin with each sound. We are continuing to build our phonics knowledge and strengthen our ability to connect letters and sounds as we become confident readers and writers. 🔢 Math – A Closer Look at Teen Numbers In math, we continued with our Number of the Day and took a closer look at teen numbers . Students explored what makes a teen number and practiced representing numbers in different ways using ten frames, manipulatives, drawings, and numerals .   Week Two: Learning, Exploring and Growing! What a wonderful second week of school! We continued getting comfortable in our classroom, practicing our daily routines, and learning what it means to be part of our classroom community. Students are becoming more independent as they learn where materials belong, how to move through our day, and how to be respectful and responsible learners. Math: We continued exploring numbers and practiced writing the numbers 6, 7, 8, and 9 in a variety of ways. Students used different materials and representations to build their number sense and show what each number means. Literacy: This week we learned the letters A, M, and T . Students practiced recognizing, forming, and identifying the sounds associated with each letter through hands-on activities, songs, and classroom learning experiences.
